The Bitch and the Papal Pop In!
Well Darlings, I have nothing against state visits from the heads of other countries, providing those countries conform to what I believe are fundamental human rights. So Pope Benedict XVI"s state visit, which appears to me more of a "papal pop in" for his fans (paid for by all our taxpayers regardless of their particular faith, or lack of one) rather than anything to do with matters of state, leaves me with a dilemma. Here is a man who preaches love, and yet I see as sometimes having little understanding of how to put it into practise. Love is far more than merely speaking the word and, with a wave, smiling at crowds. I stand with all those who, amongst many issues, find his views on homosexuality, women, and condom use - even to save lives - leave a lot to be desired, and in some cases somewhat lacking in love.
Freedom - From Whence It Comes
Being one of my highest priorities in life, one of the things I cherish the most, I use the Fourth of July/Independence Day and Election Day, here in the United States where I live, every year, to "formally" discuss freedom, where it *really* comes from, and how it's maintained with my son, who's now twelve years old, correcting the misinformation he's taught in school and filling in the parts they leave out. In light of recent events here, I'd like to share with you the gist of what I've taught my son on the subject, ever since he was old enough to understand... Here it is: Although there are those who'd like to have you believe otherwise, the "founding document" of the United States of America is the "Declaration of Independence", written primarily by Thomas Jefferson in 1776.
The Rights, Responsibilities, and Radiation of Liberty
Have you ever seen or heard of a group of people standing outside the White House petitioning the government for their rights? While their effort and passion is admirable, I wonder if those individuals have thought about where rights actually come from. Their premise is that the government can grant rights. But is their premise correct? If it is wrong, their conclusion will be wrong as well. The Declaration of Independence says that all men are "endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights" and "to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers by the consent of the governed." The founders of America understood that rights were universal and transcendent above the laws, customs, and cultures of any particular society.
Start a New Economic Engine
Is the prosperity motor idling, anticipating some double clutching to shift back into gear, or have the pistons seized requiring us to undertake a massive overhaul of our economic engine? On the one hand the markets are rallying, companies are earning record profits while sitting on nearly two trillion dollars in cash. Ninety percent of people who want to work have a job. Nearly eighty-six percent of Americans live above the poverty line. Eighty-three percent of Americans are covered by health insurance. Household income is up seven percent amongst our oldest citizens - those over 65 years of age. The top one percent of earners are accumulating wealth at unprecedented rates, amassing fortunes the likes of which have not been seen since the blossoming of the industrial age.
USA: The Mighty Dollar Still More Important Than The Planet
Just 4 the planet has been very critical of the USA"s record on environmental issues - it is the worlds largest polluter with one of the worst reputations with regards green agendas. Regretably we can now report that utilities across the United States are building dozens of old-style coal plants that will cement the industry"s standing as the largest industrial source of climate-changing gases for years to come. An Associated Press examination of Energy Department records and information provided by utilities and trade groups shows that more than 30 traditional coal plants have been built since 2008 or are under construction. The construction wave stretches across the country and comes despite growing public wariness over the high environmental and social costs of fossil fuels, demonstrated by mine disasters in West Virginia and the gulf oil spill.
The Bitch and Another Silly Season!
Well Darlings, Here we are again in the silly season - the party political conferences. Trying to commit suicide, the Lib Dems didn't need a change in the law for assistance to that end, the media was out there, hanging on their every word and raised eyebrow, ready to plunge the knife in. Like it was open season, the big banks fired off a few shots too. Make no mistake about it, the banking industry does not work for the people, small businesses, or even the government, only for itself and the huge pay cheques, bonuses, and other benefits its upper echelons enjoy. Try to split it up and it'll simply uproot, bankrupting the country as it moves abroad.
Feminist Tyranny - a U.S. Export to the World
Feminist tyranny refers to government-supported procedures that clearly deny fundamental rights including constitutional due process to men and fathers under the guise of assuring a 'greater good'. That greater good espouses the safety of women and the best interests of the child. The feminist system is a sham for controlling society. But it's well-funded and well propagandized. This article summarizes the issues of this tyranny, how it has spread and the growing recognition of how it works to destroy society and the rights of fathers. Feminism was accepted by most as simply fostering equal opportunity for women. So, government-funded programs came into being to promote this.
